James McFall

James is the founding director of Yield Financial Planning. His main roles include chairing the Yield investment committee and leading the business to ensure Yield remains at the forefront of best practice Financial Planning advice in Australia. He holds a Master of Commerce (Financial Planning), Graduate Certificate of Commerce (Financial Planning) and a Diploma of Financial Advising. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), has a Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate), is SMSF accredited and is a passionate advocate of the Financial Planning industry. What James loves most about Financial Planning is the satisfaction of helping our client’s transition to retirement with confidence.

Growing up in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, James was interested in business from a young age and had several small enterprises. Travelling extensively in his 20’s, James discovered a love for the share market and became an avid reader of everything investing. What attracted James to finance initially, was a drive to learn how to make money work, so he didn’t have to! What has transpired since is a lifelong passion for helping others do the same. Working first at a stockbroking firm, he identified financial planning as a career path in 2000.

A people person by nature, James saw that financial planning could create life-changing outcomes and was inspired by the opportunity to make a difference in a fledgling industry, while also fulfilling his passion to build a vibrant and successful business. This has led him to hold directorships in several businesses, including property planning advice and property education, that have shaped his understanding of what it takes to build a great client-centric business.

As an advisor, James specialises in the needs of high net worth individuals, business owners, doctors and senior executive professionals. His advice expertise extends to complex tax structuring, investing in shares; property and debt markets, debt structuring, SMSF, personal insurances, wealth accumulation and retirement planning.

James has been humbled to receive professional recognition and awards, including as one of the top three Certified Financial Planners CFP in Australia, 2018 and 2020. A family man, with close friends and a wide network, James is passionate about living life for now and for the opportunity that the future presents. A lover of great food and wine, travel experiences (especially off the beaten track), skiing and staying fit and healthy, James is excited by the future and helping others shape theirs.
